"A tiro limpio": Dominican action on the edge arrives on August 7

One of the most ambitious local productions of the year will hit theaters on August 7. It's " A Tiro Limpia ," an action -drama thriller directed by Jean Gabriel Guerra and starring Manny Pérez , Frank Perozo , Solly Durán, Josué Guerrero, and Tony Almont.
The film tells the story of a group of elite robbers who carry out a series of strategic robberies in search of revenge against a powerful mafia tycoon.
With a frenetic pace and intense action scenes , the story becomes more complicated when the police identify them, unleashing a relentless chase. Amid the chaos, it is revealed that all the characters are motivated by a deep desire for justice .
During a press conference, where the press was able to see a fragment of the film that took more than a decade to complete, director Jean Guerra , accompanied by actors Manny Pérez and Frank Perozo , offered details of the long production process.

Guerra revealed that the project took several years of development and was carefully thought out to offer action cinema at an international level , with clear visual influences from classics such as Heat (1995) and Collateral (2004), both by Michael Mann.
"It was an extremely demanding shoot ," Guerra explained. "We had to film scenes with real weapons , bring in experts from Puebla and Miami for the action sequences, and comply with strict safety measures . There were even scenes shot at a fever pitch, with shooting in close quarters and endless reshoots to achieve sequence shots."
- One of the most challenging moments was filming a sequence on an overpass, with more than 30 vehicles and over 20,000 shots fired on three consecutive Sundays .
"All of that was choreographed and executed with military discipline ," said Perez, who had to lose more than 35 pounds to play his character.
Frank Perozo , for his part, highlighted the emotional complexity of the role he plays: "He's not simply a villain . He's a businessman who sees his world threatened. I didn't approach it from a place of evil, but rather from a place of defending what he believes is right."
The film , originally scheduled for an April release, was postponed to this summer to fine-tune technical details and ensure a stunning visual experience . The film's main score is a collaboration between Vaquero and Pavel Núñez , uniting two generations of local talent .
- " A tiro limpio " is, according to Guerra , only the beginning of a trilogy . "We've already planned the second and third parts ," he said.
When asked by Diario Libre , the film's director spoke about the complexity of the shoot and the physical and technical demands of the production, saying they were extreme.
The weapons used in the film were real, provided under strict security measures . Each crew member had to wear protective gear, including special face shields, since the shots generated gunpowder explosions in enclosed spaces.
According to Guerra , if a weapon was damaged, filming had to be halted for hours until it was repaired, because only the exact number requested was available.
To ensure the safety and quality of the sequences, international advisors from Puebla and Miami, experts in special effects and action scenes, were hired. "We couldn't leave any margin for error with the weapons. Every shot required precise preparation ," explained the director.
One of the most challenging moments was a sequence shot —without cuts—in which a mugging was simulated. It was repeated six times , and the director himself confessed to being sick with a fever that day, monitoring the footage while struggling to stay on his feet.
Additionally, scenes were filmed in complex locations, such as a Santo Domingo overpass in broad daylight, which meant blocking traffic for three consecutive Sundays, starting at 5:00 a.m.
More than 30 vehicles and 20,000 rounds of fire were coordinated at those scenes, requiring logistics similar to those of a military operation.
Physical transformations and total surrenderThe actors also faced rigorous physical training. Manny Pérez , for example, lost more than 38 pounds in two months with the help of trainer Román de la Cruz to play his character.
"The training was practically military. Strict diets, real weapons , and a lot of CrossFit. I don't remember how I managed it, but I did," the actor said.
Frank Perozo emphasized that the challenge was not only physical, but also emotional. Although his character might seem like a villain , he portrayed him from a more human perspective: "He's a businessman who sees his world threatened. He's not evil; he's just standing up for himself ."
A local story with an international visionThe script , written by Gustavo López and Miguel Yarull , was not strictly adhered to. Guerra explained that he allowed the actors to rewrite their lines for greater authenticity, as long as the original idea was preserved: the result was an action film of the highest international standard.
